Get Back | Tomorrow Never Knows

I have re-read The Prince's Tale a couple of times now, and while I STILL wish we could have seen slightly more of a (much) cooler Lily, I am more and more impressed each time I read it. The scenes b/t them as children are particularly vivid - very Bridge to Taribithia, as I put it elsewhere. :) And Lily calling him "Sev," while the stuff of some of the most horrid fanfic I've ever clapped an eye upon, is for some reason maddeningly endearing to me here. (No, I don't know why either.)

But the thing that really impresses me is how she showed, in this one chapter, both Snape's Schindler-like moral evolution over the years and the development of his relationship with Dumbledore, which has always fascinated me. (Still not really sure I like DD telling Snape he was Sorted too soon.  I did find it undeniably touching, as I know he meant it as the highest compliment he could bestow; my problem, I guess, is that DD still believes "you're a Gryffindor at heart" is the highest compliment one can bestow.)

WILL YOU GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BRAIN?!?!??!!

;D

I do think I know why we love Lily calling him "Sev," though. It's just the informality of it, I think. It makes me INSANELY giddy to think that Snape EVER had anyone he was so comfortable with that he would allow them to call him "Sev." :D

Ah yes, the relationship with Dumbledore. I think my favorite bit was DD casually saying "Keep an eye on Quirrell, will you?" as he reads his mag. AWESOME!

Slytherin and Gryffindor... I was actually quite surprised to hear DD say something so blatantly biased. But I liked that he said it... it was a very nice touch of ambiguity (I always like reasons to raise an eyebrow at DD's ostensible moral infallibility).

LOL! Uh...no. xP

Yes!! I think that's exactly it. And I'm equally ecstatic that Lily felt comfortable enough TO call him "Sev."

And...Dumbledore? Biased? Surely you jest. :D
